The Top 5 Questions to Ask About a Real Estate Investing Program

Are you ready to start your own real estate investing career?  Looking for a real estate investing program that can give you a solid beginning?  Many choices are available from people who are more than ready to take your money – so how do you know what you will be getting in return?  As someone new to the field, what are the top 5 questions you should ask to help you sort the wheat from the chaff?

1)    Are they in the market now?  Look for someone who has broad real estate experience, who has done the things they are teaching. Not only should their experience be extensive, they need to be actively engaged now to understand the current changes in the market dynamics.

2)    Do they practice what they preach?  It is easy to package and pass along information from various sources, but has your guru actually used the strategies they are teaching? Are they using them now?

3)    Have others benefitted from this program?  Look for testimonials to prove it – and make sure real people are behind the glowing praises.

4)    Is your advisor bringing new information to the table, new theories and techniques?  Are they up to date on the current tools, laws, and regulations?  Things change – fast. You are not looking for stale material from even two or three years ago; you need to know how things work today.

5)    Do you have access to the instructor’s network of A+ key players?  This is the ultimate test of the sincerity and genuineness of your teacher.  Why would anyone share such valuable contacts?  If your teacher is actively engaged in the market, you as a student can become part of their circle of business-generating rainmakers.  As your abilities grow, of course you are a worthy connection for your advisor to pass along to his key network.

There is no shortage of gurus peddling canned material with flashy marketing – on the web, in the media, and everywhere you look.  It can be overwhelming to a new investor who doesn’t feel they have the knowledge to evaluate the credentials of all the would-be advisors.

The answers to the 5 questions above can help you be sure you are connecting with someone who genuinely knows what they are doing and who cares about you, their client- an advisor who is sincerely interested in helping you acquire the tools and coaching to be successful.  The best advisor sees your success as his or her success, and truly cares about your outcomes.  Don’t settle for anything less!
