Property management may sometimes feel more like babysitting than managing a business. More often than not, your time as a property manager gets taken up with repairs that shouldn’t have to be made and complaints that seem outright ridiculous. Don’t worry, though. You can improve your property management experience. Try one of these tips you may not have heard before:

1)    Give your tenants the opportunity to complain. You may be thinking they complain enough already but if you give them the opportunity to tell you how to improve and give them a channel to go through with complaints you will actually spend less time managing them.

2)    Follow-up. Sure, you hear from that one special tenant every other weekend but it is worth your time to follow-up with them after a difficult situation. Many times tenants who complain a lot are actually just looking for reassurance that their landlord is as invested in keeping up the property as they are. Following up with them can really set their fears at ease.

3)    Consider Pinterest. The popular website isn’t just for crafting moms and teenagers with too much time on their hands. There are a lot of great ideas there, many of which are simple and cost effective to implement. Even if you don’t actively pin, get on there and see what people are talking about.
