Meet Our Founder

I grew up the son of a home builder. To say that real estate is in my blood would be an understatement. By the time that I was in my early teens I was working for the various trades (tile, drywall, framing, carpentry etc.) that my father had subcontracted on his housing developments.

I spent my youth with a passion for football. My only goal in high school was to get a football scholarship. I decided to pass on some of the 4 year division II scholarship offers to try and get a division I scholarship. I ended up going to Scottsdale Community College my freshman year in hopes that ASU would see me and give me an offer. After playing with the talent that I played with at SCC I realized that my “head was a little bigger than my talent”. So, I took a scholarship to a Div II school in Nebraska. The first week of camp I completely blew out my knee and my career was over just like that. I was devastated and didn’t know what to do as that had been my only goal up to that point. After the semester I headed home to AZ to finish out college at ASU.

After graduating from Arizona State University with a Bachelor of Science in Communication I went to work for my dad directly on the “business” of real estate. I already had significant “in the trenches” construction experience but had very little knowledge when it came to the actual business of running a company.

After a year and a half I decided that home building was not the venue that I wanted to pursue. I loved real estate but I had determined that the investing side of the business just fit me so much better.

In 2000 I began working with a father and son who already had an existing business buying, fixing and selling distressed property that they were buying at auction (the trustee sales). Their business was underwater to the tune of $250,000. They asked me if I could help them dig the business out of the hole it was in. I agreed but only with the stipulation that I got to buy a 50% stake in the company once that was achieved.

I was able to buy that stake in late 2002. From 2001 – 2002 I was slowly transitioning the business to a “wholesale” business. What this meant was we would use our expertise of acquiring property and then sell them off to a growing investor client base.

2002 was the last year that we did fix and flip as our primary business model. We fixed and flipped 120 homes that year in the Phoenix, AZ market. In 2003 as strictly a wholesale business we bought and sold 1000 properties in and around Maricopa County, Arizona (Phoenix Metro).

As the market continued to boom I wanted to expand the business to other markets. We began first in Portland, OR. From there we moved into Salt Lake City, UT, Southern AZ, Dallas and San Antonio, TX and finally Boise, ID. By early 2006 we had nearly 50 employees and had a capital base of over $50,000,000 that we used to lend to our investors who bought our properties (as well as other investors who found deals elsewhere).

I learned a huge lesson that began in mid 2006 as I got more disenchanted with decisions and communications with my partners and my place in our company. At this point I decided I wanted out and had to go through an extremely painful business divorce. The year long process of this back and forth with attorneys led me to another very humbling and difficult decision. That was to “walk away” completely from the company that I had built and take nothing in exchange for not having my name on any of the lines of credit or any liability whatsoever. The writing was on the wall. The real estate market was beginning to implode and the equity that I still held in the company was not going to be worth the fight. I saw that with how it was being managed it would be bankrupt and run into the ground before I ever “won” in court.

At this point I took some time off to just try and regroup and move forward. In 2009 I co-founded a more boutique style consulting business where we advised clients on buying properties at the Trustee Sales in Arizona. This business jumped to success quickly with the flood of foreclosures that were happening at that time. Unfortunately, heartbreak was around the corner again when this growing and successful business was rocked from the inside by embezzlement of epic proportions.

After dealing with the fall out and financial responsibilities related with the large scale embezzlement, I began coaching. I had always loved helping others achieve their goals in real estate investing. And so in 2012 I made the decision to begin to create real estate investing education products and offer coaching from my 15 plus years experience. This is the business that you know as StreetWise Property Investing.

I continue to work projects that I have in Arizona, Louisiana, Oregon and Washington. I have remained active as an investor during the last 15+ years. I have built a rental portfolio that at present time is in 3 different states. I continue to add to this portfolio every year. I also have always had my hand in the wholesale and fix and flip business and will continue to do so. By remaining in the market as an active investor I can offer my clients the absolute best and most accurate up to date relevant information as to what’s working and what isn’t.

Personally I have always lived my life for adventure and the next challenge – always wanting to grow as a man. I love pushing myself. I began taking on the challenge of triathlons in 2005 and by 2006 I completed my first Ironman. I then did many other ½ Ironmans around the world and ended my triathlon career on a high note with the Escape from Alcatraz triathlon in late 2010. I have hiked the Grand Canyon rim to rim in one day. My latest challenge is getting my pilots license which has been a life long dream. I am also planning to summit Mt. Rainier in the next year. I love to surf, swim, ski, snowboard, dive, hike, climb, camp, explore and teach my 2 boys to do the same. They are my legacy.

My passion has always been helping other people achieve success in real estate investing. Whether they are looking to get started in real estate as a wholesaler, fix and flip their first property, begin a rental portfolio or grow beyond where they are at in their business currently, I love coaching others to succeed.

My vision for nearly a decade now has been to help 10,000 people become financially free through real estate investing.

My coaching not only comes from my years of experience in the trenches but it also includes what is working today as I am and will always be an active investor. It is important to me to always be giving my clients up to date information about what is working now…not just what was working 5 years ago. I am also able to combine this with the lessons I learned on the gridiron as well as a football coach.

It would be my sincere pleasure to coach you and your partner(s)/team on how to achieve YOUR goals in real estate investing. My programs are always tailored to fit your goals and needs. I do not know of a better way to build, grow and preserve wealth than there is through the business of real estate investing. And, there is no faster way to get to where you wanna go than to have a mentor walk along side you who has been there and done that.

I look forward to serving you.

To Your Success,
